27-year-old is the only superstar being fully backed by WWE officials, says Vince Russo (Exclusive)

According to former WWE head writer Vince Russo, there’s only one superstar who backstage officials within the sports entertainment juggernaut are pushing. He believes that there is a lack of stars that the company is completely backing and only named one exception.

On the latest episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, host Dr. Chris Featherstone spoke to Vince Russo and former NWA and TNA World Champion EC3 about a variety of topics, including John Cena‘s last run, the Royal Rumble 2025, and who should win it, among other things.

Russo responded to Featherstone’s opinion that Jey Uso should win the Royal Rumble. He said that superstars like Uso, LA Knight, and Seth Rollins are all hand-picked by fans. He said only the 27-year-old Bron Breakker was a company-backed superstar, but even he hadn’t been protected well enough:

“I think it’s interesting what’s happening here. With what we see every single week – they’re not bringing that GUY. They love LA Knight because fans love LA Knight. They love signing along with Seth [Rollins]. They love doing the ‘Yeet!’. But nobody in the company is making that GUY. These are all the fans picking out what they like in a niche, that’s what we’re seeing. We’re not seeing that guy get that build, where fans can look at him and say ‘That’s the guy’. I mean the closest to that is probably Bron Breakker. And they’ve beat him. They’ve not kept him clean. They’ve beat him. So that’s the problem, man. You’ve got the fans picking and choosing, but you don’t have the company building anybody.” [8:22 – 9:30]

Vince Russo addressed rumors of his alleged heat with Triple H.

There were rumors that the former WWE writer had legitimate heat with Triple H even though they only crossed paths briefly in the late 1990s.

On the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Vince Russo completely denied having any real-life heat with Triple H. He said The Game was a great guy to work with when he was a superstar, noting that he had never worked with the CCO version of the man in power. Simply put he had no reason to dislike the 55-year-old:

“Where did I say I don’t like Triple H. Where did you get me saying that. I didn’t say that at all. I had a great working relationship with Triple H. I never had a problem. […] The Triple H I worked with was a great great great guy. I didn’t work with Triple H in power. I didn’t work with a Triple H who was married to Stephanie. I don’t know how that guy is. I don’t dislike Triple H at all,” Russo said.

Vince Russo also added that his negative opinion of WWE programming comes from his own experience as a writer and not from a place of personal malice against The Game.
