3 dream matches that could become a reality if AJ Lee returns to WWE in 2025

AJ Lee retired from professional wrestling in 2015, but it doesn’t stop fans from hoping for an eventual return since her husband CM Punk returned to WWE in 2023. If her return does happen, several stars are waiting to have a dream match with the veteran.

AJ Lee began her wrestling journey in 2007 and eventually debuted on WWE in 2011. She quickly rose to the top of the division and captured the Divas Championship three times before retiring in 2015. Many think a return to the Stamford-based promotion is far from happening, but CM Punk’s return and several mentions and references about her have sparked speculation that AJ may have one last run in her.

For this list, we will look at three dream matches that could become a reality if AJ Lee returns to WWE in 2025:

#3. AJ Lee vs Bayley would be a good mentor/student feud

CM Punk has openly shared that he has been supporting his wife to return to the Stamford-based promotion. Interestingly, another star who has been doing the same is Bayley.

The Role Model and the former superstar are friends and have been so since the former was training at the Performance Center. Although their paths never crossed on-screen, they have interacted backstage enough to form a close bond. Lee even wore Bayley’s shirt on her retirement match.

The SmackDown star has been pushing her friend to return for a while now, mainly in their social media interactions. If AJ does return, a feud with Bayley would be a personal and interesting one that can feature the element of a mentor vs student.

#2. AJ Lee can team up with CM Punk to take down a well-known WWE couple

Lee and Punk’s relationship was recently attacked during the latter and Seth Rollins’ promo on this week’s RAW episode. Interestingly, the latter also has a superstar wife who can have his back if Lee decides to help her husband.

Seth has been with Becky Lynch since 2019 and married in 2021. They are one of the top wrestling couples out there due to their achievements, something that Lee and Punk can rival if given a chance. Even in a singles match, AJ vs Becky would be an interesting bout since they are both considered trailblazers of their respective eras.

#1. Liv Morgan has an interesting proposal for AJ Lee

Liv Morgan and AJ Lee aren’t that far off from each other. They have somewhat similar eccentric characters, some of their in-ring mannerisms are the same, and they are both from New Jersey, something the former Divas Champion talked about fondly. A singles match between them can be pitched as a former vs current version, but Morgan has another match in mind.

When asked about a dream match, the Women’s World Champion noted she wanted to team up with Dominik Mysterio against the real-life couple. This would be interesting as well since Dom and Punk already have their differences in WWE.
