AEW is home to several amazing tag teams. From The Young Bucks to Private Party, many duos have succeeded in the Jacksonville-based promotion in the past five years.
Interestingly, All Elite Wrestling has witnessed the rise of multiple makeshift tag teams since its inception in 2019. Swerve in Our Glory and Better Than You Bay Bay are two such popular tandems, that came into existence when two successful singles stars decided to join forces for a mutual interest.
Fans can expect to see a few more unpredictable alliances in AEW in the coming 12 months. In this article, let’s look at three exciting tag teams that could form in the promotion in 2025.
#3. Kenny Omega could join forces with Eddie Kingston
At Worlds End 2024, Kenny Omega finally made his much-awaited return to All Elite Wrestling. The Best Bout Machine came out to a roaring pop to hand the Continental Title to Kazuchika Okada.
The Cleaner’s tense confrontation with The Rainmaker has seemingly confirmed who he will target from here onwards. The former AEW World Champion may not have forgotten about the chaos caused by Okada, Jack Perry, and The Young Bucks last year.
Moreover, the 41-year-old star would have a personal score to settle with The New Elite, who launched a heinous assault on Omega on Dynamite last year. If Omega does go after the heel faction, he could find Eddie Kingston in his corner.
Similar to the Best Bout Machine, Kingston also has some unfinished business with The Rainmaker and his allies. It was Kazuchika Okada who ended Kingston’s Continental Title reign last year, and The Mad King has been yearning for redemption since then.
Omega and Kingston’s mutual disdain for The New Elite could lead to the formation of an exciting tag team unit. While they have been fierce rivals in the past, the duo would not mind putting aside their differences to take down the NJPW legend.
#2. Miro and Powerhouse Hobbs could form a dominant tag team
Miro has been absent from television for the last 12 months. In September 2024, reports of The Redeemer allegedly asking for his release from AEW emerged. However, Tony Khan seemingly denied Miro’s request, and the former TNT Champion continues to be a member of the AEW roster.
Since TK has refused to let go of The Bulgarian Brute, we could see the 39-year-old star return to the Jacksonville-based promotion in the coming months. Miro could come back to form an alliance with Powerhouse Hobbs, who is struggling for a consistent push as well.
Hobbs and Miro are no strangers to each other. The two stars wrestled each other previously at All Out 2023, where the former WWE United States Champion picked up the victory.
The two behemoths could put the entire tag team division on notice by forming an unlikely alliance. Both stars are eager to bring their careers back on track, and a brief run in the tag team division could help in restoring their credibility.
#1. Baron Corbin and Dijak could arrive in AEW in 2025
Baron Corbin and Dijak were among the many superstars who were shockingly released from WWE in 2024. While WWE could not find a spot for the talented duo on its roster, All Elite Wrestling could give Corbin and Dijak a platform to reinvent themselves.
The addition of the two former NXT stars could add variety to AEW’s struggling tag team division. Both individuals are known for their great character work, and their excellent in-ring skills make them a perfect fit for the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Dijak and Baron Corbin could set the AEW tag team division on fire in 2025. While they may not necessarily get a sustained push in the singles division, focusing on the World Tag Team Championships could be a great strategy for the duo.
Tony Khan would be delighted to bring The Lone Wolf and Dijak to AEW, who possess the potential of instantly becoming fan favorites in the promotion. The two stars have been spotted backstage during AEW pay-per-views in the past, which has hinted at their possible arrival in the TK-led company.
