WWE Monday Night RAW was an incredible show last night. Many have been calling it the best episode of a stacked 2024 and given some of the incredible, entertaining, and, at times, heartbreaking moments, it is easy to see why.
One of the biggest surprises came when Jey Uso was found mysteriously assaulted backstage. An interview segment with Pete Dunne was quickly interrupted and fans saw agents and officials tending to Main Event Jey.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t yet been revealed who assaulted Uso, but the biggest and most likely culprit is Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Psychopath returned at the end of the show and laid out Sami Zayn, which could mean he did the same to Jey, just off camera.
While there is no confirmation, there are several reasons to believe Drew was the one behind the heinous attack. This article will list several, which include recent Uso-related affiliations, and is based on what Drew later did on Monday Night RAW.
Below are three reasons why Drew McIntyre may have attacked Jey Uso on WWE RAW.
#3. He could be angry with Jey Uso for reuniting with Roman Reigns
The story of Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns is a tough one for The Scottish Psychopath. He went to war with The Tribal Chief over the Undisputed WWE Championship. In fact, it even led Drew to take on Roman at Clash at the Castle in 2022.
While McIntyre attempted to dethrone Roman in front of a Welsh crowd, The Bloodline interfered. In fact, the stable got into his business multiple times.
This obviously enraged Drew, but unlike others, he could never let it go. He held onto this grudge even when Sami Zayn and Jey Uso leftThe Bloodline and were with him on Monday Night Raw. McIntyre refused to accept that these WWE stars had changed.
Fast forward to the past few weeks and Jey Uso has reunited with his cousin. While Main Event Jey and The OTC certainly aren’t the best of friends, they teamed up together. This could make all of Drew’s previous issues with Jey feel validated in his brain, thus he attacked both Uso and Zayn.
#2. Drew McIntyre could be furious Jey has befriended CM Punk
Jey Uso hasn’t just united with Roman Reigns in recent weeks. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion has also teamed up with and has even seemingly become friends with the ever-controversialCM Punk.
Punk doesn’t have many friends in WWE, as The Voice Of The Voiceless is a controversial figure and one who finds himself on the bad side of others often. This includes Drew McIntyre, as the two had an epic feud this year.
The pair had a trio of matches with CM Punk ultimately winning two of the three. His last victory came in a brutal and bloody Hell in a Cell Match at Bad Blood and until last night, McIntyre hadn’t been seen on television since.
Given that he hates Punk, it is easy to see why Drew would be mad at Jey for befriending his former rival. McIntyre thrives off of negativity, so this reaction to a new alliance isn’t at all shocking.
#1. The attack prevented Jey Uso from helping Sami Zayn on WWE RAW
It is not a surprise that Drew McIntyre is a bitter man who has a lot of animosity towards those he’s had issues with in the past. With that being said, his assault on Main Event Jey Uso from Monday Night RAW may not have much to do with Roman Reigns or CM Punk.
Instead, McIntyre could have done it for a different reason: making sure that Sami Zayn does not have any protection on WWE RAW. With Sami having issues with Seth Rollins and other performers at times, Jey Uso is his closest friend on the red brand. Drew knows this.
As a result, he probably took Jey out to make sure Uso wouldn’t come to rescue Sami from the surprise attack to end the episode. It doesn’t fully explain why he targeted Sami, of course, but the assault on the former WWE Intercontinental Champion may have been simply to keep him out of Drew’s more important business.
