Since becoming All Elite, AEW star Ricochet has had a mediocre run in the promotion. After wrestling top-notch matches for a couple of weeks, fans started criticizing him. Since leaving WWE, many fans have turned their backs on him. To respond to the haters, he and his fiance, Samantha Irvin, were active on X/Twitter and responded to critics appropriately.
After the One and Only made his debut at All In London in August 2024, his wife, who worked as a ring announcer in WWE left the company in October 2024. She was also criticized by many on social media. Many believed she might be part of AEW soon, but that wasn’t the case. Through her tweets at the time, Samantha made it clear that she would not be joining AEW.
Samantha Irvin was recently spotted backstage at the Jacksonville-based promotion and NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty. Since then, fans have believed she might be on her way to the company. Many are speculating that the former ring announcer may be a good manager for Ricochet, who struggles with the microphone.
Let’s take a look at some of the drawbacks of Samantha Irvin joining Ricochet in AEW.
#3. Ricochet-Samantha wouldn’t fit in as a couple in AEW
Throughout the years, AEW has tried many real-life couple storylines. Adam Cole and Britt Baker had a decent run together, while Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo were criticized for their ‘shoddy’ character work. Irvin will likely be paired with the One and Only if she becomes All Elite.
If the duo fails to find success as a couple, fans will highly criticize them, and this would also derail the Highlight of the Night’s current momentum.
#2. Ricochet should have a more experienced manager
The 36-year-old star has a superior moveset but lacks on the microphone. WWE tried to hand him a mic occasionally, but he failed to impress the crowd. It seems like he will face the same fate in AEW too.
Tony Khan might hire Samantha Irvin as Ricochet’s manager, as she has recently become the talk of the town. However, she is too inexperienced to cut promos for him, and he needs a voice to help him connect with the crowd. Therefore, it might be a bad idea for her to accompany his fiance.
#1. Ricochet is getting ready for big things
The One and Only showed a major character shift in the past couple of weeks. After MVP handed him a business card from the Hurt Syndicate, he was overexcited and lost his invitation to join the mighty faction. He was then insulted by Swerve Strickland multiple times after being rejected by MVP.
At Worlds End pay-per-view, the Realest star told the fans to shower Ricochet with toilet paper. In the latest Dynamite episode, the latter took his revenge by stabbing him with scissors. Many believe his recent character work will lead to him joining the Hurt Syndicate.
With the 36-year-old star’s current run going well, AEW shouldn’t pair up him with Samantha as it may limit the creative process.
It will be interesting to see how well the former United States Champion will be booked if he is managed by Samantha Irvin.
