3-time United States Champion has a legitimate chance to end Cody Rhodes’ title reign, says ex-WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr.
Cody Rhodes is currently feuding with a top WWE Superstar on SmackDown. Former writer for World Wrestling Entertainment Freddie Prinze Jr. did not rule out the possibility of Rhodes’ current rival dethroning The American Nightmare.
After Rhodes teamed up with Roman Reigns to defeat The Bloodline at Bad Blood, The American Nightmare fell victim to a vicious attack from former friend Kevin Owens in the parking lot. As Randy Orton later tried to fix things between The Prizefighter and the Undisputed WWE Champion, he was also attacked by Owens. The three-time United States Champion recently injured The Viper after hitting him with a Piledriver on SmackDown.
While discussing the possibility of Rhodes going head-to-head against Owens on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Prinze Jr. claimed The Prizefighter could end The American Nightmare’s title reign.
“If it’s Kevin, they can make that go a long time. Kevin is a top dude. Kevin’s a guy I could see winning the belt. We mentioned it going back and forth so many times you never wanna hear me say it again. So, I won’t. But I could see it go back and forth,” he said. [24:04 – 24:16]

WWE analyst thinks another superstar could dethrone Cody Rhodes
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts suggested Randy Orton could return from injury to surprisingly turn on his friend Cody Rhodes after the latter beats Kevin Owens.
The RAW Talk host claimed The Viper could easily end The American Nightmare’s title reign.
“Randy Orton could easily beat Cody Rhodes for the championship. This could start Cody trying to get his title back from Randy. This could have Cody move on to something else, while [Randy] moves on to Kevin Owens,” he said.

Rhodes last competed earlier this month when he defeated the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther to win the Crown Jewel Championship in Saudi Arabia. He has yet to be booked for a match at the upcoming Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event on November 30.
