The Olympic Gold Medalist last competed against recently released WWE star Baron Corbin. This match occurred at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, where the Lone Wolf ended Kurt Angle’s retirement tour by defeating him in a singles match.
However, with Corbin’s recent release from the company, the Hall of Famer expressed that this development makes his WrestleMania 35 loss feel meaningless. Kurt Angle explained that he believed WWE would push Corbin, and that’s why, following Corbin’s release, Angle feels like his WrestleMania 35 retirement match was all for nothing.
“For me, it makes me feel like I did that for nothing. It’s not like, ‘Sc**w you, Angle’, but it kinda is. I thought they were gonna run with the kid; I thought they were gonna make him one of the top-tier guys, and he was on his way,” Angle stated.
With the feeling that his retirement match’s significance was seemingly wasted, Kurt Angle might make an unexpected comeback under the regime of Triple H. Given his age and the extensive list of injuries he has sustained over the years, the chances of him wrestling again are highly unlikely. However, we’ve seen Stone Cold Steve Austin come out of retirement after many years.

If the 55-year-old star comes out of retirement and is ready to write another final chapter in his career with the Stamford-based promotion, Triple H could book Chad Gable as his opponent. Gable has already demonstrated impressive skills and a high ring IQ, making an Angle comeback not only exciting but also safer.
