5 WWE stars who must NOT win the Women’s United States Championship in 2024
Last week on WWE SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis revealed the new Women’s United States Championship. While he didn’t say much more, the title should be up for grabs for stars who haven’t yet won singles gold.
The exciting announcement has been in the works for some time. A new championship provides the women of WWE an opportunity to win a title that may not have existed without a new belt. Names like Chelsea Green, Shayna Baszler, or Lyra Valkyria should emerge as favorites to be the first star to hold the title.
While a former veteran champion could steady the title in its infancy, the next five women shouldn’t be the inaugural titleholder.
#5. Jade Cargill doesn’t need a title to prove her dominance
Cargill benefitted from AEW essentially building its TBS Championship around her. She never lost until dropping the belt to Kris Statlander. The Storm has been booked strongly in her WWE tenure, winning the Women’s Tag Title two times with Bianca Belair.
The division hasn’t been helped with Cargill and Bianca Belair being champions since it’s hard to take any challenger seriously. Big Jade is already booked well enough, so she doesn’t need another accolade of winning singles gold that could help other women. If the former AEW star is slated for a singles title, it should be one of the two Women’s Championships in WWE.
#4. Bayley just came off a major WWE title run
Bayley is one of the division’s most important performers and has been through the entirety of her career. She’s dependable, reliable, and can tell a great story as a face or heel.
That ability led to her championship gold through her story with Damage CTRL. The group she created turned its back on her, and she made them pay by taking the WWE Women’s Title from IYO SKY at WrestleMania earlier this year.
For that reason, why Bayley would be a steadying force. She shouldn’t win the new belt. The Role Model came off a major title run with her loss at SummerSlam. Different names should be considered as the first champion.
#3. Bianca Belair is always in title pictures
Bianca Belair has been one of WWE’s top stars over the last three years. In 2024, she replaced Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, who have been absent from TV for different reasons.
The EST is extremely popular and dependable, but many believe she is overexposed. She’s been in title pictures the last three years, including hot-potatoing the Women’s Tag Title this year.
Many in the WWE Universe believe that she’s booked as a female John Cena—overcoming every obstacle while performing feats of strength. Belair doesn’t need to be thrust into another championship picture, especially since her team dominates the tag division. It would be overkill and hurt the rest of the women’s roster.
#2. Tiffany Stratton already has a path to a major title
By virtue of winning Money in the Bank, the company has already earmarked Tiffany Stratton as a champion. It’s just a matter of when they pull the trigger with her cash-in.
Few stars experience the type of organic popularity Tiffany had immediately upon her main roster debut earlier this year. Since she already has a clear path to a major title, going for the Women’s US Championship would be somewhat of a step-down. Many other women could use the push associated with winning a new title.
#1. Charlotte Flair’s name is synonymous with Championships
Charlotte Flair’s name is usually mentioned when titles are discussed in WWE. Short and ineffective title wins overshadowed her numerous title wins. Despite that, The Queen is regarded as one of the industry’s top stars.
Flair has been out of action for nearly a year due to a knee injury she suffered last December. Her return is imminent and could just be a matter of timing. The Queen will likely be thrust into a title program upon her return.
However, that title program should not be for the Women’s US Title. The new belt should be a stepping stone for a star who has yet to capture singles gold. Someone else like Zoey Stark, Chelsea Green, Michin, or Lyra Valkyria could use a title win more than Flair.
