7-time champion won’t be satisfied, says WWE veteran, unless he defeats Gunther before retirement
Gunther’s World Heavyweight Title reign on WWE RAW could be in jeopardy in the coming weeks. However, Dutch Mantell believes a potential match with Goldberg won’t go well for The Ring General, as the veteran won’t be satisfied with losing his final bout.
Last month, Bill Goldberg announced that he would retire from in-ring competition in WWE next year under Triple H’s regime. However, the two-time WCW United States and one-time Tag Team Champion hasn’t specified the number of matches.
Speaking on Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the WWE veteran hated the idea of Goldberg vs. Gunther. The 74-year-old veteran stated the four-time World Champion won’t be satisfied if he doesn’t win the final match before retirement, which could possibly be against The Ring General.
“I hate it. First of all, it’s a retirement match. I don’t think anything is going to satisfy Goldberg in a retirement match; he’s got to go over. But they can’t afford for Gunther to lose,” Mantell said. [From 1:37:45 to 1:38:15]

As of now, Gunther is set to defend his title against Damian Priest at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30.
Why would Goldberg face Gunther in his final WWE match?
Last month, Goldberg made a shocking appearance on WWE television when he attended Bad Blood in Atlanta with his family. This marked the Hall of Famer’s first appearance for the Stamford-based promotion since 2022.
However, it didn’t go as planned. Later, Triple H made an appearance and revealed the new Crown Jewel Championship. This led to Gunther interrupting The Game and later turning his attention towards Goldberg.
After The Ring General took a few shots at the Hall of Famer, Bill jumped the barricade and was ready to confront the World Heavyweight Champion in the middle of the ring.
Luckily, the officials and security stopped the confrontation, and Sami Zayn took out Gunther. The interaction seemed intentional, and this could possibly be a set-up for a match between the two in 2025.
