Bloodline Member Reveals Family Exclusion, Discusses Relationship with Rikishi

Rikishi is one of many real-life Bloodline members who have wrestled for WWE over the last few decades. Tonga Kid, the Hall of Famer’s twin brother, recently discussed his relationship with the family.

On November 30, WWE’s original and new versions of The Bloodline will do battle at Survivor Series: WarGames. Tonga Kid’s son Jacob Fatu will represent Solo Sikoa’s group, while Rikishi’s sons The Usos will be part of Roman Reigns’ team.

In an interview with Monte & The Pharaoh, wrestling legend Tonga Kid claimed he has always felt left out by the family:

“I believe that I was almost like the black sheep of the family. They didn’t wanna take a chance on me. Didn’t wanna take me to the movies. They didn’t wanna take me here, to the mall, whatever, whatever. I was always that left-out kid. You look in the rearview mirror of the car and I’m back there and everyone’s taking off to the movies except Tonga Kid.” [22:23 – 22:42]

Tonga Kid also gave an emotional response when asked to discuss Jacob Fatu’s recent WWE success.

Tonga Kid speaks honestly about Rikishi

In the 1990s and early 2000s, Rikishi became one of the most recognizable superstars in WWE. Tonga Kid, by contrast, wrestled most of his WWE matches between 1983 and 1988 before returning for a short run between 1992 and 1994.

According to Tonga Kid, other family members viewed Rikishi as “perfect” compared to him:

“I was this troubled kid, so they had to send me somewhere to straighten up. That’s where [uncles] Afa and Sika came in. Competitive, yeah, high school, me and my brother. [The perception was] he’s perfect and I’m not. It’s that type of kid growing up. I love my mom, I love my dad, I love the family, but, like I said, I’m almost like the black sheep of the family. No one wants to take that chance on you.” [26:12 – 26:49]

Tonga Kid also addressed the possibility of another real-life Bloodline member receiving a WWE Hall of Fame induction.
