Triple H recalls how things got worse for 11-time Champions in WWE: “We’re gonna get fired anyway”
WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has been running the creative for the last couple of years. The Game recently spoke about how The New Day found its footing in the company.
Back in 2014, WWE put together Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods into a tag team. Despite the initial backlash, the trio went on to become one of the most successful factions in the company’s history, winning the tag team championships 11 times.
WWE released a video of Triple H interacting with The New Day. The Game recalled how he envisioned the team to be a beacon of positivity and things turned out completely different. He mentioned that the stars were getting poor reactions for weeks and things got worse before they eventually got better:
“So, when I first heard it, it was the put together as a group. Sort of the base of it, put together as a group, have it be this positivity. I thought you guys could probably pull this off. Once I saw what it started to become, immediately it was way different than what I envisioned in my head what you guys had to deal with. It almost seemingly almost kept getting worse.”
The King of Kings further stated that the trio started enjoying themselves when they realized they had nothing to lose:
“Then it hit a point where I could feel it with you guys, you guys got to the point like, f**k it. It can’t get any worse than this. We’re gonna get fired anyway. So let’s just go out there and make each other laugh and go way over the top with it. [From 0:48 – 1:48]

WWE will honor The New Day on its tenth anniversary
The December 2, 2024, episode of RAW will be a huge milestone for The New Day. WWE will be celebrating the faction’s tenth anniversary during the show.
However, things are not right within the faction. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have had tensions building between them for the last few weeks. This past Monday on RAW, things came to a head as the two stars had a bitter argument backstage.
It will be interesting to see if the tenth anniversary celebrations become a boiling point for the differences between The New Day members.
