AEW Plans Revealed for Jon Moxley’s Stable
Jon Moxley shocked fans at WrestleDream 2024 by winning the AEW World Championship from Bryan Danielson, and then he took it up a notch by putting a plastic bag over Danielson’s head. Since that moment, Moxley has been on a rampage in AEW alongside his new faction.
The Death Riders, currently made up of Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Wheeler Yuta, and Marina Shafir, have been wreaking havoc in AEW, targeting several top stars over the past few months. So far, there’s no indication that their destructive rampage is slowing down.
In an interview with the New York Post, Jon Moxley discussed the “complete reset” of the company with the storyline of the Death Riders. The AEW World Champion emphasized that everything that has happened so far is irrelevant, calling this moment “Day Zero.” “Everything that has happened up to this point doesn’t matter. This is Day Zero. We’re starting from here, and it might not look very different right now, but it will be. Big changes come from making small, consistent steps over time,” Moxley stated.
Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that this storyline is heavily driven by Moxley, with the support of AEW president Tony Khan. While Khan still oversees the overall direction of AEW’s television, many of the ideas and dialogue are coming directly from Moxley himself.
“I understand that this is a deal involving Moxley regarding the storyline with Tony Khan, who agreed to it. Tony Khan is still overseeing everything, just like he does with all televised content, but many of the concepts and dialogue come from Moxley,” Meltzer stated.
It has also been reported that AEW currently has no plans to add more members to the Death Riders. Moxley is set to defend the AEW World Championship against Orange Cassidy in the main event at Full Gear.
