AEW star announces ring return after 365 days, but surprises by naming location

STARDOM has announced Tay Melo’s return to competition at New Year Dream on January 3 at the Tokyo Garden Theater. Melo will team with Mina Shirakawa to face ROH Women’s Champion Athena and Thekla in her first match since March 2023.

The AEW star took a break from in-ring action following the birth of her daughter, Luna Melo Guevara. While still contracted to AEW, Melo chose STARDOM as the platform for her comeback match.

Kenny Omega helps prepare Tay Melo for STARDOM return

As part of her preparation for the upcoming match, Melo has been training alongside Kenny Omega, who is also working toward his own return to action. Omega has been sidelined since December 2023 due to diverticulitis but is scheduled to face Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5.

Reflecting on his decision to return through New Japan Pro Wrestling, Omega shared his perspective:

“Many people, not just in Japan, but internationally, never knew who I was until I did big things in New Japan. I owe them a massive thank you. I feel like I have a debt to repay in some way.”
