Nick Jackson is facing a period of absence from AEW programming following the physically demanding Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing on May 25. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jackson will be out of action for a few weeks to recover from injuries sustained.
The specific incident occurred when Nick Jackson performed a swanton bomb from one of the elevated video screens, crashing through a table on the stage, which resulted in a bad landing. While Meltzer’s report indicated that Jackson does not appear to be seriously injured, the recovery period is deemed necessary. The chaotic 12-person Anarchy in the Arena match reportedly left multiple participants “banged up.”
Although the Wrestling Observer Newsletter did not detail the precise nature of Nick Jackson’s injury, other industry sources, including Fightful Select, have since reported concerns about a potential concussion stemming from the high-impact maneuver. AEW has not yet provided an official medical diagnosis. Despite the concerning landing, Jackson reportedly continued to compete and execute further high-risk spots during the remainder of the match.
Reflecting this, The Young Bucks have been absent from recent AEW television, including this past week’s Dynamite, as AEW is reportedly managing medical clearances for several talents following the demanding pay-per-view. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter did not specify if Nick Jackson’s absence would impact Matt Jackson’s on-screen presence in the immediate future, as Matt is also understood to be recovering.
