AJ Styles returned to WWE television during the 2025 Royal Rumble match, entering at number 21, before being eliminated by Logan Paul. Speaking with Cathy Kelley in a WWE digital exclusive after the match, Styles addressed the elimination.

I’ll never live that down, getting eliminated by Logan Paul. At least I’m not alone in the shame, but you know what? I got out there and I did what I needed to do. I stayed long there, was in there with the big dogs, and I held my ground. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the one coming behind me, who apparently jumped on the table, scaffold his way back over to the steps and caught me off guard. But this is the WWE. You will lose. You will win. Accept it. Move on. Next Big Thing.

WWE Analyst Predicts WrestleMania 41 Showdown

Analysis from WWE analyst Sam Roberts suggests this interaction could lead to a larger confrontation. Speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts elaborated on the potential development of this situation.

I was hoping that we would get to see AJ Styles, and not only did we get to see AJ Styles, but by the way, I wouldn’t be surprised if AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul is where we are headed [WrestleMania 41] based on their interaction.

The tension between the two competitors was evident as Paul mocked Styles following the elimination, creating a clear point of conflict that could build toward WWE’s premier event. Styles had been absent from WWE programming since October, where he suffered an injury during a match with Carmelo Hayes.
