Andrade’s second run with WWE, which began with promise at this year’s Royal Rumble, has come to an abrupt and messy end. Over the weekend, news broke that the company had released the superstar for what are being cited as disciplinary reasons.
Breaking his silence, Andrade took to social media with a short message for his former employer:
“Thank you WWE!!!”
While WWE has not commented, reports indicate the dismissal stems from at least one violation of the company’s wellness policy during this recent tenure, which resulted in an unpaid suspension. The situation reportedly escalated last month when Andrade was asked to leave a SmackDown taping and escorted from the venue, forcing the company to scrap creative plans for his tag team with Rey Fenix.
This marks Andrade’s second known wellness policy violation, as he previously served a 30-day suspension for a similar issue in January 2020 during his first stint with the company.
Andrade’s latest tenure with WWE lasted just over eight months, following a run in AEW that bridged his two stints with the company.
