Bloodline Member Tearfully Discusses Jacob Fatu’s WWE Journey
Jacob Fatu has been one of WWE’s top breakout stars in 2024 so far. In a recent interview, the 32-year-old’s father Tonga Kid gave an emotional reaction while discussing his son’s rise to stardom.
Fatu is a member of the new Bloodline faction alongside Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa. The SmackDown talent made his name in the wrestling business in MLW before debuting in WWE in April.
Speaking on Monte & The Pharaoh, legendary wrestler Tonga Kid summed up what Fatu means to him:
“Oh, man, I love him. I’m so proud of that kid. He’s just a bada** son of a b***h.” [13:43 – 13:50]
Fatu spent time in prison after being arrested for robbery as an 18-year-old. More than a decade on, Tonga Kid became tearful when asked how he keeps his son focused on the important things in life:
“Just stay on top of him. Just keep letting him know that we’re here for you, and let him know how much we love him. You know, sometimes I believe in life that people can use a hug and a hug can go a long way. A hug can go a long way, man. To hell with your money. You hug me, man, that’ll make my whole year.” [15:33 – 16:00]
Jacob Fatu has competed in eight televised matches since joining WWE. On November 2, he teamed up with Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga to defeat Roman Reigns and The Usos at Crown Jewel.
Tonga Kid on Vince McMahon’s possible view of Jacob Fatu
In July 2022, Triple H replaced his father-in-law Vince McMahon as WWE’s main roster creative figurehead.
McMahon never hired Jacob Fatu during his time as the head of creative. However, Tonga Kid believes the former WWE Chairman would have recruited his son eventually had he remained in charge:
“I think it was gonna happen regardless who was in charge. You cannot turn talent down. How can you? You cannot turn talent down. As a business or you’re running an organization, those are the chances you’re gonna have to take in life.” [18:24 – 18:39]
One of the biggest matches of Fatu’s career will take place at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30. On the latest SmackDown episode, Bronson Reed joined Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline team as they prepare to face Roman Reigns’ group at the event.
