Bobby Lashley has opened the door for a future reunion with his former manager, Lio Rush, expressing confidence that their paths will inevitably cross now that both men are signed to AEW.
The pairing, which split in 2019, was a notable part of WWE programming, with Rush acting as the mouthpiece for Lashley during a run that included an Intercontinental Championship victory. Speaking to WFAA Texas, Lashley voiced his continued admiration for Rush’s abilities.
“I love Lio, say it all the time, I love Lio. I think Leo has some tremendous amount of talent across the board. He’s always, always doing something. If he had, he just needs a platform to be able to do it,” Lashley said.
While he did not offer a specific timeline, Lashley was clear that he expects to work with Rush again during his time with AEW.
“Am I gonna do something with Lio? I don’t know, I really don’t know. I’m sure down the road, if I spend some time with AEW, we are definitely gonna cross paths,” he stated, adding he was surprised they hadn’t yet interacted in a tag team capacity.
Lashley left no doubt about his belief in a future collaboration, concluding with a more definitive take.
“I think we’re definitely gonna do something while I’m here in AEW for sure,” he said.
Currently, both performers are active in AEW’s tag team division. Lashley, as a member of the Hurt Syndicate, holds the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Shelton Benjamin. Meanwhile, Lio Rush competes with Action Andretti in the team known as CRU.
Lashley has previously highlighted the creative freedom within AEW, where talent has more input into their characters and storylines. This environment could provide a new foundation for a partnership, suggesting any future reunion could explore a dynamic different from their original WWE run.
