A prolonged absence from television and a vacuum of official information have led to a division within the AEW locker room regarding the future of former Women’s World Champion Britt Baker. The ongoing speculation has intensified in recent weeks, with conflicting reports and cryptic social media posts fueling the uncertainty.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer highlighted that the silence from the principal figures involved is a key factor in the growing speculation.
“So, the only thing I wanted to say was that, you know—I mean, I’ve seen the stuff. I’ll only say that there’s two direct people who know, which are obviously Tony Khan and Britt Baker. And I just want to point out that neither denied anything. Neither confirmed anything.”
This lack of clarity has reportedly left people within the company unsure of what to believe. Some feel her return is inevitable, while others are convinced she is on her way out of the promotion.
“I know people in the company who think it’s just one of those things and she’ll be back. Other people think that she’s gone, wants to go.”
Reports have circulated suggesting Baker is actively looking to leave AEW, with some claiming she has interest in moving to WWE. However, a report from Fightful Select has strongly refuted these claims, stating that multiple sources “vehemently denied” that Baker has communicated any desire to part ways with the company.
Baker has not appeared on AEW programming since her victory over Penelope Ford on the November 13, 2024, episode of Dynamite. This absence has persisted despite internal discussions about a potential return for a significant match at Double or Nothing in May 2025. According to reports, those plans stalled for unclear reasons, even as Baker was said to be open to returning.
Adding to the mystery, Baker posted a quote on her Instagram story about an object’s value changing based on its location, which many fans interpreted as a comment on her standing in AEW. Sources close to the wrestler, however, noted that she often shares inspirational quotes and this post was not necessarily related to her professional situation.
Despite any speculation, Baker remains under a long-term contract with AEW. She signed a five-year extension in late 2021, securing her with the company until at least the end of 2026.
As of now, the situation remains unresolved. There is no official news regarding Baker’s return to the company or a potential departure, and she is not booked for major upcoming events like All In.
