Bronson Reed has sustained a broken ankle during the WarGames match at Survivor Series, requiring surgery after a high-risk maneuver gone wrong. WWE confirmed the injury on SmackDown, with Reed now facing an indefinite period away from competition.
The incident occurred when Reed attempted his signature Tsunami splash from the top of the steel structure, targeting Roman Reigns. The move resulted in Reed crashing through a table, leading to the ankle injury that forced him out of action.
Reed addressed the situation on social media, maintaining a positive outlook despite the setback. “I believe that in this business, you have to keep evolving. This is just another time to do so. Your outlook on situations can make or break you. My spirit is unbreakable,” he wrote on X/Twitter.
Wrestling veteran Dr. Tom Prichard suggests a potential timing issue between Roman Reigns and CM Punk might have played a role in Reed’s injury. The incident happened during the match’s closing sequence, where Punk’s move to pull Reigns away appeared delayed.
“I didn’t see it, but that could be it. Who knows? That’s a big boy going up there. The balance up there for a minute then going straight down… It could have been timing. It could have been a lot of things. Kudos to him for going up there,” Prichard explained on the Taking You To School podcast.
Reed was spotted wearing a walking boot following the event, confirming the injury’s severity. WWE medical staff has scheduled him for surgery to expedite his recovery process.
