Chelsea Green advances in WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament; Surprise attack determines the match
Green's victory came after a mysterious backstage attack ended up distracting Belair.
The opening match of last Friday Night SmackDown in Salt Lake City featured Bianca Belair, Chelsea Green, and Blair Davenport competing in a Triple Threat Match for the first round of the new WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament.
Belair was living up to her favorite status and was about to win when suddenly, a video appeared on the big screen showing her partner and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, Jade Cargill, unconscious backstage after possibly being attacked.
Belair ended up getting distracted and fell victim to a roll-up pin from Green, who got the three count. Green advances to the next round of the tournament for the new title.
After the match, Belair ran to the arena’s parking lot, where Cargill was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance, leaving the mystery of who was behind the attack unresolved.
