CM Punk believes he wasted bouts on some AEW talents

CM Punk reflected on his two-year stint in All Elite Wrestling, which began with his return to the rings at AEW Rampage First Dance in Chicago’s United Center on August 20, 2021. His run concluded in September 2023 following his termination, leading to his WWE return at Survivor Series.

During his AEW tenure, Punk engaged in notable rivalries with MJF, Eddie Kingston, Adam Page, and Jon Moxley. However, potential bouts with Kenny Omega and The Elite never materialized.

In a conversation with Peter Rosenberg on Cheap Heat, Punk addressed whether there were missed storytelling opportunities in AEW.

“No. I feel like I wasted some matches on some people, for sure. That is what it is. Some people understand the business and some people don’t. I think everybody here understands the business,” Punk said.

GUNTHER references CM Punk on RAW amid Damian Priest rivalry

GUNTHER incorporated a subtle nod to CM Punk during a backstage segment with Ludwig Kaiser on Monday Night RAW. The Ring General quoted lyrics from Punk’s entrance theme “Cult of Personality” in his dialogue.

“Look into my eyes. What do you see?” GUNTHER asked Kaiser. This reference carries weight given Punk’s previous interaction with GUNTHER after his victory over Drew McIntyre at Bash in Berlin.

The exchange occurred as GUNTHER prepares to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest at Survivor Series: WarGames. Their rivalry intensified last week when Kaiser interrupted their in-ring confrontation.
