The cast for the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie has gained another major star from the world of professional wrestling. A report from Deadline has officially confirmed that Cody Rhodes will portray the iconic character Guile in the feature film.
The character of Guile, an Air Force major seeking to avenge his fallen friend, has been a central figure in the video game franchise since his debut in 1991. Rhodes joins a cast that already includes Jason Momoa, fellow WWE star Roman Reigns, and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, positioning the film as a significant Hollywood production.
This casting marks another major career development for Rhodes, whose profile in WWE remains at an all-time high. His move to the big screen comes as he is also cemented in a main event storyline for WWE’s biggest party of the summer.
After winning the King of the Ring tournament at Night of Champions, Rhodes secured a championship opportunity at SummerSlam. He is set to challenge John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship, aiming to regain the title he lost to Cena at WrestleMania 41 earlier this year.
