Cody Rhodes was hospitalized with multiple cervical injuries following an attack by Kevin Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event. WWE confirmed Rhodes suffered cervical swelling and remained overnight for observation at a local medical facility.
Medical evaluations revealed Rhodes sustained axial compression of the cervical spine and cervical strain with spasm, though X-rays showed no fractures. The incident occurred when Owens executed a Package Piledriver on Rhodes after their Undisputed WWE Championship match.
“BREAKING: Earlier today it was confirmed that @CodyRhodes suffered cervical swelling and was kept overnight at a local hospital for observation. While X-Rays were negative for a fracture, Rhodes has been officially diagnosed with axial compression of the cervical spine, as well as a cervical strain with spasm,” WWE stated.
Rhodes left Nassau Coliseum on a stretcher following the attack. Owens also took possession of the Winged Eagle Belt that Rhodes had brought to the match.
The timeline for Rhodes’ return remains uncertain. A potential rematch against Owens could take place at Royal Rumble 2025, pending Rhodes’ recovery.
