Current AEW star teased to make promotion switch

A report has just come in regarding the status of a top AEW star. Due to a new deal being signed, he’ll compete for another major promotion moving forward this year.

Konosuke Takeshita is affiliated with All Elite Wrestling and DDT Pro-Wrestling. This weekend, he competed at Wrestle Kingdom 19 and Wrestle Dynasty and walked away as a double champion, with the International Championship and NEVER Openweight title around his waist.

During his post-match press conference, The Alpha revealed that he had signed a deal with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. In an interview with Tokyo Sports, NJPW owner Takaaki Kidani provided some information on this. He revealed that this was a one-year contract, and seeing as he does not compete all the time in AEW, he is free to come and compete in major matches for his company.

“I think the contract is for one year, but AEW doesn’t have many fights. If he wants to fight in the New Japan main event, that could happen in practice. I think it’s fine for him to come and go. There are a lot of wrestlers like that,” Takaaki said.

The Japanese star is now signed to three companies from two different continents in the world.

Konosuke Takeshita treats everyone from AEW, WWE, DDT, NJPW, and other companies as family

Two weeks ago, Takeshita briefly talked about his approach to wrestlers coming from different companies and his perception of them. Following the words of his mentor, he treated everyone like family.

While speaking to DDT Pro-Wrestling, he talked about how the entire industry was connected like a family, and all those legends who have come before him can be considered his grandparents. He applied this to his career and showed his love and appreciation for everyone in the industry.

“Antonio Honda, who is my father in pro wrestling, said to me, ‘Take-chan, pro wrestling is a big place.’ He said, ‘Take-chan, wrestling is a family in the broadest sense; DDT, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and WWE are all family even though they are in different organizations, and the legendary wrestlers are like my grandparents. Everything is connected, so you have to love your family. That was a fundamental part of what I valued in my wrestling career.”

Now, Konosuke Takeshita will be representing three major promotions moving forward, and this looks to be a stacked year for him.
