Damian Priest comments on major change from WWE RAW

Monday’s WWE RAW saw the road to Survivor Series heat up for Damian Priest in a major way. The former Judgment Day member is focused on regaining championship gold while evolving his character now that he is no longer affiliated with his former faction. It’s now being revealed how a legendary star helped Priest with his wildly popular change seen on this week’s RAW.

The Archer Of Infamy continues to chase Gunther and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The champion began his reign by dethroning Priest at SummerSlam on August 3. Priest vs. Gunther was confirmed for Survivor Series after the NYC native won last week’s RAW Fatal 4 Way over Dominik Mysterio, Seth Rollins, and Sheamus.

Monday’s loaded RAW episode opened with a showdown and brief fight between Priest and Imperium, but the former NXT North American Champion later defeated Ludwig Kaiser in eight minutes. Gunther briefly came to the stage for a post-match look at Priest in the ring. The 42-year-old received some social media praise for the upgraded WWE theme song he walked out to.

Priest has now confirmed that legendary musician Kerry King worked on the upgraded version of his “Rise for the Night” theme by Def Rebel, which WWE introduced back in April amid his big run. The Slayer co-lead guitarist and songwriter used “some of his genius” on the new remix and added vocals. Priest took to Instagram with a clip from RAW and a show of respect for the 43-year music industry veteran, who is a noted pro wrestling fan.

“Shout out to the legend @kerrykingmusic for adding some of his genius to my theme. Love it! [sign of the horns emoji] #RiseForTheNight #KerryKing,” Damian Priest wrote with the video below.

Survivor Series will mark the fifth singles bout between Priest and The Ring General, but just their second televised match. Following SummerSlam, Gunther defeated Priest at two non-televised live events in August, then won a SmackDown dark match in September. Each man has won two of the four multi-man matches they’ve worked since 2023.
