Disappointing update on Cody Rhodes’ WWE future [Reports]
With Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 hardly three weeks away, fans have been wondering what WWE has in store for Cody Rhodes at the upcoming PLE. The Undisputed WWE Champion is fresh off a win over Gunther at Crown Jewel 2024.
Considering Cody was involved in The Bloodline saga and sided with Roman Reigns in the OTC’s battle to reclaim control of the stable, many assumed he would feature in the upcoming WarGames Match at Survivor Series 2024. However, the Stamford-based promotion is instead heading in a different direction, with Seth Rollins most likely to join forces with Reigns, The Usos, and Sami Zayn for the show.
This gave way to chatter about what the Triple H-led creative team was planning for Cody Rhodes. Dr. Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda Wrestling has now reported on X that the promotion initially planned to have The American Nightmare for the WarGames clash. Chris noted things soon changed, and the 39-year-old was now left without a match for the event.
Sam Roberts thinks Randy Orton can dethrone Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes
In a recent episode of his NotSam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts pitched the idea of Randy Orton potentially turning heel and defeating Cody for the gold. The RAW Talk host stated that since babyfaces were most effective when chasing, it could lead The American Nightmare on the path to reclaim his title.
“Randy Orton could easily beat Cody Rhodes for the championship. This could start Cody trying to get his title back from Randy. This could have Cody move on to something else, while [Randy] moves on to Kevin Owens,” he said.
Orton is currently embroiled in a heated feud with Kevin Owens. Though they were slated to wrestle at Crown Jewel 2024, the match could never start as the two began brawling even before the bell rang.
In the subsequent episode of SmackDown, KO brutalized The Viper, resulting in the latter being stretchered off. The memorable angle also put Orton on the shelf for the foreseeable future.
