Dominik Mysterio shared his insights on what it takes to be an effective heel in today’s Pro Wrestling. In an interview with Busted Open, the Judgment Day member discussed his journey as a heel and the essential elements for success in this role.
When he began his career, Dominik imagined forming the best Tag Team alongside his father. However, he revealed that since childhood, he has always identified with the industry’s villains, and when he had the opportunity to portray one, the role came naturally.
How to be a successful heel in 2025
When asked about what defines a good heel nowadays, the former NXT North American Champion explained that it all comes down to perception and total commitment to the character.
Actually, it’s all about perception. It’s about how the fans see you and how you want to present yourself. There are heels who want to be cool, do things, and still stay “cool.” You need to embrace being a heel, embrace the boos. If you’re going to be a heel, be one completely. You can’t be mean to the parents and then, when the kids show up, say, “Oh, it’s your birthday?” No, kid, everyone has a birthday. You’re not special. That’s how it works. Some people can’t handle being rude to kids. You need to go 100%.
