Dustin Rhodes sends an emotional message ahead of grand return after 32 years outside AEW

Dustin Rhodes has been able to return to his roots since joining AEW in 2019. The veteran is also set to return to Japan after 32 years and recently addressed it on social media.

The Natural has competed in Japan in the late 80s and early 90s for promotions like New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling. Dustin Rhodes has expressed his excitement about working in Japan and will get to return to the country for Wrestle Dynasty on January 5. Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara are set to defend their ROH World Tag Team Championships against House of Torture (Yoshinobu Kanemaru and SHO) at the PPV.

On X (fka Twitter), Dustin Rhodes shared his thoughts on returning to Japan for Wrestle Dynasty.

“Feeling blessed to be alive and back in Japan doing what I love.”

This will mark Dustin Rhodes’ first match in the Tokyo Dome since 1993, when he teamed up with Scott Norton to take on Masa Saito and Shinya Hashimoto at the NJPW Fantastic Story event.

Dustin Rhodes recently signed a new deal with AEW

Dustin Rhodes signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 after leaving WWE. The Natural has had a great career in the promotion despite not winning championship gold until last year. Rhodes is the current ROH World Tag Team and Six-man Tag Team Champion.

On X (fka Twitter), Dustin Rhodes announced that he had inked a new multi-year contract with All Elite Wrestling and thanked CEO Tony Khan for the opportunities.

“Today I have signed a new multi yr contract with @AEW. I want to thank my boss @TonyKhan for every opportunity he has given me. Since coming here and being an original since inception, I have truly had the time of my life. Everybody knows my story, and how much I have been through in all my yrs (…) I will finish my career here at #AEW as I feel it is home to me. I have never felt respected and wanted like I have here,” he wrote.

We will have to wait and see if Dustin Rhodes is able to capture a World Title in 2025.
