NXT General Manager Ava announced Eddy Thorpe’s withdrawal from tonight’s Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline due to medical reasons. The announcement came following a backstage attack on Thorpe by an unidentified assailant during Tuesday’s NXT.

Thorpe had secured his spot in the match after winning the Last Chance Fatal Four Way qualifying match on December 3, defeating Cedric Alexander, Lexis King, and Axiom. The 34-year-old competitor was set to join Ethan Page, Nathan Frazer, Je’Von Evans, and Wes Lee in the Iron Survivor Challenge.

“Due to the heinous attack he suffered this past Tuesday, Eddy Thorpe has been ruled out of the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge,” Ava stated in a video posted on Instagram. “We still don’t know who attacked Eddy and we’re continuing to look into this situation.”

The NXT General Manager confirmed she would find a replacement for Thorpe before tonight’s premium live event in Minneapolis. “For Deadline tonight, I will find a suitable replacement to take Eddy’s spot in the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge,” she added.

The identity of Thorpe’s attacker remains unknown, with NXT officials continuing their investigation into the incident.
