A former WWE star who was poised for main event success once in the global juggernaut has now been a part of AEW for a long time. He is reportedly happy to be a part of Tony Khan’s company despite having had a successful tenure in WWE.
Adam Cole was once considered one of the top WWE Superstars in their developmental territory, NXT. It was then that Cole achieved massive success in the global juggernaut, delivering memorable performances against stars like Keith Lee, Finn Balor and Pat McAfee.
Moreover, he still holds the record for being the longest-reigning WWE NXT Champion, with his title reign lasting 396 days. However, in 2021, Cole switched sides and made his debut for AEW. Since then, the Panama City Playboy has been a regular part of their programming, but his run has been derailed by lacklustre creative storylines and injuries that have taken a toll on him physically and emotionally.
Despite not achieving the level of success he once did in WWE, Ibou of WrestlePurists revealed on his X that Adam Cole was just happy being in AEW. He was a true team player and delivered everything the company asked him to do. Moreover, he also added that Cole was happy working with his friends.
“He’s happy to be there and just does what they tell him to do. Likes working with his friends.”
Adam Cole reunited with his friends, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong at the AEW Worlds End 2024 pay-per-view. The trio came together after O’Reilly and Strong helped Cole fend off an attack from MJF.
This came after Adam Cole failed to defeat The Salt of the Earth in a one-on-one showdown for MJF’s coveted Dynamite Diamond Ring. Following that, the trio reformed their popular faction, The Undisputed Kingdom.
With Cole and his band back together after AEW Worlds End, it could mark the start of a fresh run for them. Moreover, it will be interesting to see if they can achieve the same level of success they claimed back in WWE NXT when they were known as ‘The Undisputed Era.’
