Former WWE United States Champion Discusses Possible Return to WWE After 4 Years
TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy shares insights about his wrestling future and relationship with WWE during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet.
I just think I’m just gonna ride the spiral ’til it ends. I try not to think too far ahead. I try not to overwhelm myself. I’m more of a day-by-day person.
Hardy noted the evolving relationship between TNA and WWE, referencing Masha Slamovich’s recent NXT appearance. He revealed that he and his brother Jeff recently filmed content for WWE, similar to the Dudley Boyz.
We filmed some content for WWE that’ll probably be dropping pretty soon. I think you could see us pop up even as TNA champs on some WWE show at some point.
The 50-year-old veteran also touched on living in the moment, particularly following the unexpected losses of Jay Briscoe and Bray Wyatt.

Jeff Hardy Contemplates Renewed CM Punk Rivalry
While Matt considers future WWE appearances, his brother Jeff reflected on potentially revisiting a classic rivalry. During a separate conversation with Chris Van Vliet, Jeff Hardy discussed the possibility of rekindling his memorable feud with CM Punk.
And yeah, the reality is, it could happen, man. Our feud—man, I still get so many compliments on that. People who are adults now come up to me, like, ‘Oh man, you and Punk, that feud was amazing.’
The original Hardy-Punk rivalry centered around the World Heavyweight Championship in 2009, leading to Jeff’s departure from WWE. Hardy suggested a fresh take on their dynamic, proposing to portray an antagonistic character in any potential future encounters.
I’m 26 years old and live in Brazil. I'm fluent in English, a journalist, and a pro wrestling fan for 15 years. Creator of the Brazilian website Wrestling Notícias. Fan of CM Punk and Chelsea Green.
Matt Hardy reveals on his podcast that while The Hardy Boyz have completed their current NXT stint, they remain interested in pursuing the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Matt Hardy has confirmed that The Hardy Boyz have completed their current run in NXT but still have future plans with WWE. The statement came during an episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast.
Yes. I do think we would want to run it back. As of right now, our little run with NXT is wrapped,” Hardy said. “We do have some stuff on our schedule to do with WWE a little later on down the road. Nothing specifically with NXT yet, but…
When podcast host Jon Alba attempted to get more details about their WWE plans, Hardy kept the information vague.
Just stuff, I’m going to leave it at that right now. We have stuff lined up with WWE.
Hardy expressed interest in returning to NXT specifically to pursue the tag team championships. The titles remain an achievement missing from The Hardy Boyz’ extensive tag team resume.

But I would love to run it back, especially when we gave our initial thoughts following the match,” Hardy continued. “The first thing post-match is like, hey, these guys got a shot at the TNA Tag Team Titles and we were able to retain our titles, we prevailed. But does this now earn us a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships? Because that is a tag team title that The Hardys do not have on their resume, and The Hardys would like to have that on their resume. I think there’s maybe a selling point there, too.
The Hardy Boyz began their unexpected NXT tenure on February 25, with their most significant appearance coming on March 11 when they defeated Fraxiom in a non-title match.
Jeff Hardy praised the athleticism of Fraxiom team members Nathan Frazer and Axiom following their bout.
Their human hearts are more like rocket-boosters. That’s the fastest team I’ve ever been in the ring with.
WWE has not announced any future appearances for The Hardy Boyz in NXT or on other WWE programming.
The win has positioned the legendary tag team to challenge for the NXT gold. In a post-match interview released by WWE, Jeff Hardy expressed interest in pursuing the NXT championship.
I think I have a statement and a question. Their human hearts are more like rocket boosters, that’s the fastest team I’ve ever been in the ring with. And my question is, do we get a shot at the NXT Tag Titles now?
Matt Hardy echoed his brother’s sentiments while complimenting their opponents’ abilities in the ring. The veteran performer noted the significance of potentially adding the NXT titles to their extensive championship collection.

I was gonna say. They’re incredible. I cannot put them over enough, they are amazing and they are the NXT Tag Team Champions for very specific reasons, because they’re incredible. But tonight we were defending the TNA World Tag Team Titles and we were able to retain them, but we did beat them. Unfortunately the NXT titles weren’t on the line. Maybe next time, the NXT titles will be on the line, because that is something the Hardys do not have on their list of gold.
The interviewer, Sarah Schreiber, mentioned that the brothers would need to speak with NXT General Manager Ava to arrange the championship match. This potential title bout would need to be scheduled around the Hardys’ existing commitments.
Both Matt and Jeff already have matches scheduled for this week’s TNA Sacrifice event. Jeff will face Moose in a ladder match for the TNA X-Division Championship.
Matt will compete in a 10-man tag team contest alongside Joe Hendry, Elijah, Nic Nemeth and Leon Slater against JDC, Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards, Eddie Colón and Orlando Colón.

Given these commitments, the logical destination for an NXT Tag Team Championship match would be the NXT Stand & Deliver premium live event during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas.
WWE has not yet made any official announcement regarding when the potential NXT Tag Team Championship match might take place.
Confirming earlier rumors, Total Nonstop Action announced the return of live broadcasts of TNA iMPACT! for next Thursday, January 23rd, something that hasn’t happened in over eight years.
The first match previously announced for this special episode, which will air on AXS TV, features Axiom and Nathan Frazer putting the NXT Tag Team Championship on the line against The Rascalz, the team consisting of Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz.
Frazer and Axiom witnessed The Rascalz’s loss to Jeff and Matt Hardy during TNA Genesis, where the World Tag Team Championship was at stake.
