Gage Goldberg, son of WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg, revealed he once broke an opponent’s neck while executing his father’s signature spear move during a high school football game. The 18-year-old University of Colorado football player shared this startling information during a conversation with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter.

“Oh, yeah, in high school football, for sure. Up here at Colorado, not yet. I’ve got in the game a little bit but I haven’t speared anyone yet, but in high school I definitely did. I broke someone’s neck before.”

The younger Goldberg transitioned from Samuel V. Champion High School in Texas to join NFL legend Deion Sanders’ program at Colorado. During his time in Texas, Gage’s connection to wrestling royalty remained well-known among his peers. “I lived in Texas for five years, so I was with that group of people all throughout high school. They knew everything. They knew who my dad was, they know what I’m gonna be, and my presence kinda,” Gage explained.

Bill Goldberg’s legacy continues to influence wrestling discussions, particularly with his recent announcement of retirement plans for 2025. Speculation grows about a potential final match against World Heavyweight Champion Gunther following their Bad Blood confrontation.
