Heartbreaking heel turn, new champions to be crowned? - 4 possible finishes for The Street Profits vs. Motor City Machine Guns on WWE SmackDown

WWE Friday Night SmackDown is just a day away and it will likely be another big-time episode. This edition of the blue brand is championship-themed, with two big title matches announced for the program.

Perhaps the most intriguing and least predictable of the two is for the Tag Team Championship. The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) will be defending their prized titles against The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins).

Shelley and Sabin won the title on just their second week of being in World Wrestling Entertainment. They defeated DIY to earn a title opportunity and went on to beat The Bloodline for the gold. Meanwhile, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins are long-time main roster stars and multi-time champions.

What will happen when the new faces of the tag team division take on one of the most decorated teams in the company today? Below are four possible finishes for The Street Profits vs. The Motor City Machine Guns on WWE SmackDown.

#4. Motor City Machine Guns could win cleanly

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin may be new to the bulk of the WWE audience, but they are far from new to pro wrestling. The Motor City Machine Guns are long-time veterans of the industry with the majority of their success coming from TNA Wrestling.

Since coming to WWE, the two have already made quite an impact. They’ve taken out A-Town Down Under, The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, DIY, and even Los Garza. They’ve been a hit, but more than that, their tag team expertise has been on full display.

When The Motor City Machine Guns clash with The Street Profits, their winning ways may continue. If the two hit the Skull & Bones, it could be lights out for Angelo Dawkins or Montez Ford.

#3. Montez Ford could turn heel and walk out on Angelo Dawkins

The Street Profits are an incredible and charismatic tag team. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins are both beloved by the WWE Universe and fans eat it up whenever the two come out or speak on the microphone.

With that being said, there has long been a belief that Montez Ford could be a breakout singles star in WWE. Fans have been wondering when he’ll finally ditch The Street Profits to go out on his own. That could happen on SmackDown.

The match could see some kind of a spot where Angelo and Montez have a miscommunication. From there, Ford could snap and walk out on his partner, thus leaving Dawkins to fend off MCMG alone. In the end, this will lead to Dawkins getting pinned, but more notably, lead to Montez getting a singles push.

#2. The Street Profits could both turn heel and cheat to win the gold

The Street Profits have had a long journey in WWE. They made a name for themselves in NXT and while figuring things out, the two found success in EVOLVE Wrestling, even winning tag team gold there. They went on to hold gold on NXT, RAW, and SmackDown as well.

It has been a long time since they’ve held titles, however. They have noted their frustration on and off camera, desperately needing to win gold after several years without the prized WWE Tag Team Titles or any other set of belts around their waists.

With both men being so frustrated, instead of one star turning on the other, both members of The Street Profits could turn heel. They could snap and cheat to win, perhaps using a low blow or a chair behind the referee’s back. This would get them the win, turn the two heel, and kickstart a new push for the talented stars.

#1. Tommaso Ciampa could interrupt and lay out all four WWE Superstars

There is another element in the upcoming WWE Tag Team Championship match that some may be forgetting. While The Street Profits and The Motor City Machine Guns are gearing up to clash, DIY wanted their chance at glory too.

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa unfairly lost the WWE Tag Team Titles to The Bloodline. Now, both men, with Ciampa in particular driving the charge, want to get the gold back by any means necessary. The Blackheart is fired up and even destroyed Pretty Deadly on SmackDown last week.

To continue his destructive ways and to make a statement, Tommaso Ciampa could show up mid-match and brutalize everyone involved. He could replicate the beating he gave to Kit Wilson and Elton Prince, ultimately leading to the bout being thrown out and ruled a no-contest.
