Cody Rhodes was hospitalized overnight following an attack by Kevin Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event. WWE confirmed Rhodes suffered cervical swelling, with medical examinations revealing a cervical strain with spasm.
“While X-Rays were negative for a fracture, Rhodes has been officially diagnosed with axial compression of the cervical spine, as well as a cervical strain with spasm,” WWE stated in an official announcement.
PWInsider reports the injury is part of an ongoing storyline between Rhodes and Owens, suggesting their rivalry will continue. The development indicates both competitors have unfinished business.
The timeline for Rhodes’ return to face Owens remains uncertain. A potential confrontation at Royal Rumble could be in the works, though no official plans have been confirmed.
