Drew McIntyre expressed interest in facing John Cena in a Singles Match during his retirement tour. The statement came after Cena announced his participation in the 2025 Royal Rumble Match, during the first WWE RAW on Netflix.
Cena revealed his plans to win his 17th world title at WrestleMania. So far, only he and Roman Reigns have been confirmed for the men’s Royal Rumble Match.
In an interview on the Babyfaces podcast, McIntyre discussed Cena’s participation in the Royal Rumble and expressed his intentions:
Good luck. I want mic time with him and I want that Singles Match. I’m going to make it happen one way or another.
McIntyre also issued a direct warning to Cena, recalling the incident with CM Punk at last year’s Royal Rumble:
I hope he doesn’t end up in the ring with me at the Rumble. The last person who got in my way was CM Punk, who was going for the WrestleMania main event, and I ripped his triceps off the bone. I might ask Cena to pick which muscle or bone, because I’m going to tear or break it.
Interestingly, McIntyre and Cena have never faced each other in a Singles Match in WWE. McIntyre took part in the first WWE RAW on Netflix this week, where he was defeated by Jey Uso.
