Despite her recent involvement in two separate matches that ended with significant injuries to Zoey Stark and Liv Morgan, there is reportedly no backstage heat on Kairi Sane. The consensus within the WWE locker room is that both incidents were unfortunate accidents.
The clarification comes from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, who addressed the speculation directly during his podcast. He emphasized that the blame for the injuries does not fall on Sane.
“There is zero heat whatsoever. Zoey’s was an accident that happened when she jumped off the top rope. Liv’s was a freak accident on a basic move. Kairi was very concerned backstage,” Sapp stated.
The first incident occurred on the May 19 episode of WWE RAW during a Money in the Bank qualifying match. Stark suffered tears to her ACL, MCL, and meniscus after landing awkwardly during a missile dropkick attempt. The injury required a three-and-a-half-hour surgery, and WWE officials reportedly expect her to be sidelined for the remainder of 2025.
Just under a month later, on the June 16 edition of WWE RAW, another match involving Sane was cut short. During a singles bout, Morgan suffered a dislocated right shoulder from a basic single-leg takedown, forcing an immediate stop to the contest.
Morgan has since undergone successful surgery and is beginning a lengthy rehabilitation process. WWE has stated she will miss “several months,” derailing significant creative plans that included a feud with Nikki Bella and a scheduled WWE Women’s World Championship match.
In both situations, Sane was reportedly very upset and expressed her concern for her opponents backstage, reinforcing the belief that the injuries were nothing more than ill-fated accidents.
