Tension has surfaced between former WWE superstars following Matt Riddle’s recent comments about Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn being difficult to work with. Owens has now addressed these claims during an appearance on the My Mom’s Basement podcast, offering his perspective on the situation.
Riddle had previously stated that while Sheamus was physically his toughest opponent, both Owens and Zayn were challenging collaborators, claiming it was nearly impossible to “complete a sentence” when working with them. Owens acknowledged hearing these remarks but showed little surprise at Riddle’s assessment.
Not surprised me, but I saw this. It’s funny because, coming from him — I have nothing against him — but for me, he’s a guy who had incredible opportunities in his hands. Like being Randy’s tag team partner for so long and basically riding the coattails of a legend. And he managed to mess it all up, not because of his abilities — because he is very talented and athletic — but because of his own attitude and poor choices.
The Canadian competitor further addressed Riddle’s specific claim about communication difficulties, partially confirming the accusation while defending his working style alongside Zayn.
If that’s how he felt, fine. I can’t even say he’s wrong when he said it was hard to get a word in. It probably was, because we probably didn’t let him get many words in. Just because we’ve been around him, and we work a certain way — and it works.
This exchange follows Riddle’s departure from WWE earlier this year, while Owens continues his run with the company alongside longtime friend Sami Zayn.
