Kevin Owens may soon leave WWE “stealing” Winged Eagle Championship

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select provided clarity on Kevin Owens’ WWE contract status, confirming the superstar remains with the company. While his current agreement approaches expiration in early 2025, no official announcement has been made regarding a contract renewal.

Sapp addressed speculation about Owens’ future during a recent podcast episode:

I haven’t been told outright about Kevin Owens re-signing, but it’s safe to assume at this point.

The relationship between Owens and WWE management has grown complex following recent events. At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Owens attacked Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes from behind, executing a banned package piledriver before stealing the Winged Eagle championship belt.

The incident led to an immediate confrontation with Triple H on the entrance ramp. The WWE Chief Content Officer pushed Owens, who responded in kind, leading to speculation about potential disciplinary action. However, no official decisions have been announced regarding Owens’ status.

Owens crashes Netflix kickoff event

Tensions escalated when Owens made an unauthorized appearance at the WWE RAW Netflix kickoff event. The former Universal Champion arrived unannounced at WWE headquarters, carrying Rhodes’ championship belt and declaring himself the rightful champion.

Michael Cole engaged with Owens during the disruption, questioning his recent behavior. Security personnel eventually removed Owens from the premises, but not before he announced his intentions for the December 26 event in Jacksonville.

WWE issued a medical update on Rhodes, citing “axial compression of the cervical spine” and “cervical strain with spasm” following the attack. With the holiday schedule approaching, Rhodes may not return to television until RAW’s Netflix debut on January 6.
