LA Knight retains WWE United States Championship after new title defense on SmackDown

LA Knight overcomes Santos Escobar again, but once more falls victim to Shinsuke Nakamura's attack.

As previously reported, the WWE United States Championship was once again on the line during last Friday Night SmackDown, held in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The match in question this time featured current champion LA Knight defending his title in another opportunity against the leader of Legado Del Fantasma, Santos Escobar.

Right at the start of the match, Knight was distracted by a video of Shinsuke Nakamura on the big screen, which gave Escobar the opening to attack him mercilessly. However, in the end, Knight emerged victorious after delivering a “BFT” on Escobar, followed by the pinfall.

After the match, however, Nakamura repeated his actions from the previous week and brutally attacked Knight in the ring, further intensifying the tension in their rivalry for the WWE United States Championship.
