Legendary WWE Commentator Close to Signing with AEW
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mauro Ranallo visited AEW Revolution backstage while Dave Meltzer reveals past discussions about bringing him to the company.

Mauro Ranallo was present backstage at AEW Revolution, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The former WWE commentator met with several talents during his visit, including Renee Paquette and Will Ospreay.
Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW and Ranallo had preliminary discussions “years ago” about a potential working relationship. These early talks never progressed to serious negotiations.
Ranallo stepped away from professional wrestling commentary for several years following his WWE departure. He returned to wrestling broadcasting last year when he called the action at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s “Forged in Excellence” event.
Since then, Ranallo has worked on various projects outside of professional wrestling. His recent broadcasting work included calling the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match last year.
AEW has not made any announcements regarding Ranallo’s backstage visit or any potential future involvement with the company. The report does not indicate whether new discussions have taken place between Ranallo and AEW officials.
Ranallo gained significant popularity among wrestling fans during his time as a commentator in WWE, where he was particularly praised for his work on NXT and SmackDown broadcasts.
