Lilian Garcia disclosed her experience with severe vocal cord inflammation caused by environmental hazards in her previous residences. The current RAW ring announcer shared details about her medical challenges through a video message on Instagram.
Garcia explained how exposure to toxic conditions affected her vocal abilities, a crucial aspect of her professional career. The situation stemmed from mold contamination and gas leaks across three different properties.
Garcia opened up about the severity of her condition:
One of the things that I wanted to share was the struggle that I had with my voice for such a long, long time. If some of you don’t know, I had an attack from a house, from three different homes with mold. And it caused severe inflammation in my lungs. That inflammation, it was so severe that it caused havoc on my vocal cords and projection.
The announcement included Garcia’s path to recovery, which involved extensive medical treatment and personal determination. She expressed gratitude for overcoming these challenges and returning to her role in WWE.
Garcia reflected on her recovery journey:
So now, being able to like get through all of that and being cured from that, and the amount of doctors that I went through and functional medicine, and lots and lots of prayer, to now being able to be back in the WWE, and now leading worship tomorrow. This is why this means so much to me, because it was almost stripped away.
Garcia’s return to WWE in October as RAW’s ring announcer marked a significant milestone following her departure from full-time duties in 2016. She replaced Samantha Irvin on the October 21 episode of RAW.
In a recent Thanksgiving message shared on Instagram, Garcia expressed her appreciation for her support system and WWE return:
It’s been quite a journey but from the sadness and chaos, much beauty has been birthed. I am SO extremely grateful for all the incredible friends I have in my life and for my dear sister and family. She added that her return to WWE as RAW’s ring announcer has made her heart full.
