Major setback for AEW star Ricochet

Ricochet has just suffered another disappointment for the second straight week, this time bowing out of a chance to finally capture the first world title of his career. This loss came at the hands of Zack Sabre Jr.

Last week at Worlds End, the former WWE Superstar competed in the semi-finals of the Continental Classic. However, he fell to Kazuchika Okada, who ended up winning the whole tournament.

Tonight at Wrestle Dynasty, he had one more chance to capture championship gold, as he was gunning for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

As the match got longer, it seemed like he had a genuine chance of bringing NJPW’s world title to AEW, but his opportunities all resulted only in near falls. Something similar could be said for Sabre Jr as he too had to dig deep in his bag of tricks.

The two exchanged finishers, with the champion hitting him with multiple Zack Drivers and it still wasn’t enough. Ricochet hit him right back with multiple Vertigos but he too could not put his opponent away.

Zack then got creative and caught Ricochet in a tough submission hold, and forced his challenger to submit verbally. He now leaves the weekend with two successful title defenses. Ricochet, on the other hand, will have to deal with yet another tough loss.
