The AEW World Championship match at All In: Texas will now be a Texas Death Match, a stipulation added after a volatile opening segment on the 300th episode of AEW Dynamite. The show began with challenger “Hangman” Adam Page entering the ring and directly challenging champion Jon Moxley to raise the stakes for their title bout on July 12.
Page, referencing a recent attack by Moxley’s Death Riders faction, stated he knew both his allies in The Elite and Moxley’s group would be involved at All In. He then challenged Moxley to make the match a Texas Death Match, telling the champion to “give him everything or give him death.”
Moxley, accompanied by Marina Shafir, initially rejected the challenge, questioning Page’s readiness for the pressures of being champion. This led to a physical altercation, with Death Riders members Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta overwhelming Page. The brawl drew out Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata, who neutralized the attack.
During the standoff, Shafir attempted to strike Page with Moxley’s briefcase, but Page intercepted it. He then offered to return the briefcase only if Moxley agreed to the Texas Death Match. After a moment of consideration, Moxley accepted the terms.
Following the agreement, Page returned the briefcase to Shafir. In a definitive statement to prove his readiness for the violent encounter, Page delivered a Buckshot Lariat to Shafir, leaving the audience in shock as he regrouped on the entrance ramp with his allies. This will be the second Texas Death Match between the two rivals; Page won their first encounter at Revolution in March 2023.
