Major Title Change Occurs at AEW Revolution

Kenny Omega captured the AEW International Championship by defeating Konosuke Takeshita at Revolution in Los Angeles. This victory marks Omega’s first time holding this specific championship and his first title win of any kind since 2023.

Omega made his in-ring return at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5 in the Tokyo Dome where he defeated Gabe Kidd, setting the stage for his championship pursuit.

The path to this championship match began when Omega pinned Takeshita during a tag team contest at AEW Grand Slam Australia. In that match, Omega teamed with Will Ospreay to defeat Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher, earning a shot at the International Championship.

Takeshita defended his title against Orange Cassidy on last week’s Dynamite, confirming the championship match against Omega would proceed as scheduled.

Omega’s previous championship reign ended at Revolution in 2023 when he and the Young Bucks lost the AEW Trios Championship to the House of Black.
