Major WWE star teases return to the ring at Royal Rumble 2025
A major WWE star teased a return to the ring at Royal Rumble 2025 next year in Indianapolis, Indiana. The premium live event is one of the company’s biggest shows of the year.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show today, the former NFL punter teased a return to the ring at Royal Rumble 2025. Pat McAfee has not competed in a match since his brief appearance in the Men’s Royal Rumble earlier this year.
“Woah, woah, I have been working out,” he said on his show today. “How about it? I’ve been healthier than I ever been,” McAfee said. [H/T: SEScoops]
Pat McAfee has been absent from WWE television in recent months as he has returned to ESPN’s College GameDay show for the college football season. However, McAfee will be returning to WWE’s commentary team when RAW moves from the USA Network to Netflix in January 2025.
Former WWE star Baron Corbin praises Pat McAfee
Baron Corbin recently praised Pat McAfee and referred to the 37-year-old as an enigma.
Corbin’s WWE career ended recently when the promotion decided not to renew his contract. McAfee defeated the former United States Champion in a singles match at SummerSlam 2022.
In an interview with TV Insider, Corbin praised McAfee’s work as a commentator and noted that it was amazing to have a match against him at SummerSlam.
“It’s great. Him [McAfee] and Michael Cole have so much fun together. They are friends inside the work area and outside. Pat is just an enigma. Everything he touches can turn to gold. Getting to be in the ring with him at SummerSlam two years ago was amazing. Now watching him over at the broadcast team on RAW, he has been knocking it out of the park. He is wild. He is unpredictable. He may drive some people crazy, but you can’t stop listening to him,” Corbin said. [H/T: TV Insider]
The winners of the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble Matches go on to get a major title shot at WrestleMania. It will be interesting to see if McAfee is a surprise entrant in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match on February 1, 2025.
