May has not been seen on AEW programming since AEW Revolution earlier in 2025, where she competed against Toni Storm in a violent “Hollywood Ending” match for the AEW Women’s World Title. Despite anticipation for her return at Double or Nothing, particularly given her storyline history with Storm and Mina Shirakawa, who competed for the championship at the pay-per-view, May was not involved in the event.
Reports from various wrestling news outlets, including WrestleTalk, have indicated that Mariah May’s current AEW contract is set to expire later this year. Furthermore, it has been reported that May has informed AEW officials of her intention not to renew her contract, fueling talk of a potential departure.
During her time with AEW, Mariah May achieved significant milestones, including winning the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in 2024. She subsequently turned on her then-mentor Toni Storm, leading to a high-profile feud where May defeated Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In: London in 2024.
Toni Storm eventually regained the AEW Women’s World Championship from Mariah May at the Grand Slam Australia event in February 2025. At Double or Nothing 2025, Toni Storm successfully defended her title against Mina Shirakawa, with May not factoring into the outcome or aftermath.
