A significant change in creative plans for the upcoming Evolution 2 premium live event has not altered WWE’s intention to feature Nikki Bella. Although her originally planned opponent, Liv Morgan, is sidelined with an injury, the Hall of Famer is still expected to have a role at the all-women’s show on July 13 in Atlanta.
The initial storyline began on the June 9 episode of WWE RAW, where Nikki Bella made her return to television. She confronted Morgan, and the segment concluded with Morgan attacking Bella, setting the stage for a high-profile match at Evolution. During their on-screen rivalry, Morgan even incorporated a pointed reference to Bella’s recent real-life divorce to build heat for the anticipated match.
However, those plans were abruptly canceled after Morgan suffered a dislocated shoulder, removing her from the event entirely. Despite the setback, a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirms that WWE still has plans for Bella at the event. Her continued prominence on promotional posters for Evolution 2 reinforces the company’s commitment to featuring her, even without a publicly announced opponent or role.
Discussions were also reportedly underway for Nikki’s sister, Brie Bella, to come out of retirement, potentially for a Bella Twins reunion at the event. While the status of those talks is unclear following Morgan’s injury, it highlights the various options WWE was exploring for the Hall of Famers.
Nikki Bella has been preparing for a sustained in-ring run, having started training with veterans like Natalya and Tyson Kidd in January. In a recent interview, she admitted she was “really nervous” but felt supported backstage. Showing her influence, Nikki also used her podcast to publicly advocate for veteran Natalya to be given a spot on the Evolution 2 card, praising her dedication to the company.
