Wrestling Noticias was born from a passion for pro-wrestling, but it is sustained by a non-negotiable pillar: the trust of our community. We believe that trust is not requested; it is earned through consistent action, radical transparency, and a framework of accountability that makes us directly responsible to you, our reader.
This page is not a legal requirement; it is our social contract. Inspired by innovative journalism models like “De Correspondent” in the Netherlands, we detail here the architecture of our operation. We want you to know not only what we publish, but how we work, who makes the decisions, and what mechanisms guarantee our integrity.
1. Editorial Structure & Decision-Making Process
Clarity on who is responsible for what is the foundation of accountability. Our editorial structure is designed to ensure quality, consistency, and a rigorous review process.
Leadership Structure:
- Editor-in-Chief: Responsible for the overall strategic vision, defining and maintaining the Code of Ethics, and making the final decision on highly sensitive topics or those that present potential conflicts of interest.
- Section Editors (e.g., WWE, AEW, National Wrestling): Responsible for daily and weekly content planning within their respective areas, the first review of all articles, and the management and mentorship of the writers.
- Writers & Analysts: The heart of our coverage. Responsible for research, reporting, writing, and pitching original stories and in-depth analyses.
- Copy Editor / Fact-Checker: Responsible for the second line of review, focusing on grammar, style, and, crucially, the independent verification of sources and factual claims in articles before publication.
The Lifecycle of a Story:
Our process ensures that every piece of content passes through multiple stages of validation:
- Pitch: The story idea is suggested by a writer or editor.
- Approval: The Section Editor approves the pitch, aligning on the scope and necessary sources.
- Production: The writer researches and drafts the article.
- Editorial Review: The Section Editor reviews the text for clarity, coherence, and analytical quality.
- Final Review & Fact-Checking: The Copy Editor/Fact-Checker conducts the final verification.
- Publication: The article is scheduled and published.
2. Conflict of Interest Policy
Our loyalty is, first and foremost, to the truth and to our readers. To ensure our editorial independence, all team members of Wrestling Noticias adhere to the following rules:
- Fundamental Principle: Editorial coverage is and always will be produced independently, without any influence from advertisers, business partners, pro-wrestling companies, or any other external entities.
- Financial Investments: Editorial team members are prohibited from owning stock or making direct investments in publicly traded companies that we cover extensively (e.g., TKO Group Holdings).
- Gifts, Travel, and Benefits: The acceptance of gifts, services, or other items of value from sources we cover is strictly prohibited. An exception may be made for symbolic, low-value items (under R$150 / approx. $30 USD), which must be reported to the Editor-in-Chief. Travel and accommodation for event coverage should, whenever possible, be funded by Wrestling Noticias. If a company offers to cover travel expenses, this information will be prominently disclosed at the beginning of all articles resulting from that coverage.
- External Work & Freelancing: Team members must disclose to the Editor-in-Chief any external jobs, consulting work, or close personal relationships with individuals or organizations within the pro-wrestling industry. If a potential conflict is identified, the individual will be recused from covering that specific topic.
- Disclosure to the Reader: In the rare event that a potential conflict is unavoidable, a transparency note will be added to the relevant article, explaining the nature of the relationship to the reader.
3. Accountability Mechanisms
We believe in being accountable for our work. We offer direct channels for our community to hold us to our own high standards.
- Explicit Corrections Policy: Our commitment does not end at publication. We have a detailed and accessible [Corrections Policy]. Factual errors are corrected promptly and with a note explaining the change. We actively encourage readers to point out inaccuracies.
- Direct Channel to the Editor: We have created a direct email channel, [email protected], for readers to send critiques, suggestions, or ethical concerns that will be read directly by the Editor-in-Chief. We guarantee a review of all messages and a response when appropriate.
- Impact & Transparency Reports (Inspired by The Correspondent): Every six months, we will publish a “Transparency Report” for our community, detailing:
- The period’s most impactful and most-read stories.
- A summary of all significant factual corrections we have made.
- Feedback, critiques, and suggestions received from the community and how we responded to them.
- Our progress toward our editorial goals, such as the percentage of exclusive and primary-data-driven content.
4. Annual Independent Audits
To take our commitment to the highest level of seriousness, we pledge to conduct an annual external audit and publish its findings.
- Our Commitment: Annually, we will invite an external and independent party to audit our processes and finances.
- The Scope of the Audit:
- Editorial Process Audit: A veteran journalist or a communications academic will be invited to review our workflow, our application of the Code of Ethics, and the effectiveness of our accountability mechanisms.
- Financial Audit: Our sources of revenue and major expenses will be reviewed by an independent accounting professional to verify the accuracy of our stated funding model.
- Publication of Results: A summary of the audit reports, including any criticisms, findings, and recommendations for improvement, will be published on this page annually. We believe that external oversight is the most powerful tool for continuous improvement and for maintaining trust.
