John Bradshaw Layfield expressed interest in facing John Cena during Cena’s 2025 WWE Farewell Tour, which begins on RAW on Netflix.
Multiple wrestlers have indicated their desire to face Cena in 2025, including Cody Rhodes, Nic Nemeth, CM Punk, and Logan Paul.
Speaking on Something to Wrestle, JBL discussed the possibility of facing Cena again.
Of course. Yeah, because I think the world of John and I was so happy that I was part of John’s, formative career. I, again, I don’t take any credit for anything. John did. John would be exactly where he is now with or without me. I’m just glad that I was one of the ones that was there at the start.
But John’s such a great guy. I mean, everything about him. I mean, the more you know about John, from his Make-A-Wish, what he does, to how he interacts with fans, to how he interacts with talent, what he’s done for talent. I mean, it’s just amazing.
It’s not going to happen, by the way. There’s no absolutely zero talk of it.
Cena defeated JBL at WrestleMania 21 in 2005 to win his first WWE Championship. The two competed again in 2008.
The Wrestling Observer reports Roman Reigns topped WWE merchandise sales for December 2024. His OTC t-shirt was WWE Shop’s best-selling item during the month, including the Christmas period.
Cena’s Farewell Tour t-shirt ranked second in sales. Reigns’ OTC hoodie placed third, followed by CM Punk’s Best In the World t-shirt in fourth and Cody Rhodes’ American Nightmare hoodie in fifth position.
